Inside was an interesting concept and although I didn't see the surprise ending coming, I recognised the clues Snyder had planted in her descriptions of Inside.

I would have liked to learn more about Lieutenant Commander Karla and Commander Vinco's motives.ĭystopian novels always need good world-building, and in this, Snyder didn't disappoint. I also liked most of Snyder's characters, although I was disappointed that the villains remained two-dimensional. But the ending still managed to surprise me, and I'm looking forward to seeing how Snyder plans to develop it. There's a few predictable elements to Snyder's story and I definitely saw a few of the plot twists coming - a result of reading way too many dystopian YA novels. Trella is drawn to exploring the pipes and air vents seperating the levels and when word spreads of her knowledge of Inside's systems, she finds herself caught up in a revolution which could lead to finding Gateway a mythical door to the unknown.

Inside Out tells the story of Trella, a Scrub one of the many men and women of the lower levels of Inside, whose lives are spent working tirelessly to keep Inside running, while the Uppers go about their daily business. Snyder's first foray into dystopian fiction is a promising (if unoriginal) start to a series which I'm sure I'll continue with.

Until I accidentally start a rebellion and become the go-to girl to lead a revolution. So what if I occasionally use the pipes to sneak around the Upper levels? The only neck at risk is my own… I've got one friend, do my job and try to avoid the Pop Cops. One of thousands who work the lower levels, keeping Inside clean for the Uppers.
